FAQs
What do I get with my kitten?
When you adopt a kitten from Devon Rex Kitten Home, you’ll receive a comprehensive kitten care package that includes two jumpers, toys, and treats. Additionally, we’ll provide you with a three-generation pedigree lineage for your kitten, and if you choose to register your kitten with TICA, we’ll provide you with the necessary information to do so. We also offer a three-year guarantee against congenital defects and HCM, as well as lifelong support. We genuinely enjoy receiving updates on our cats and encourage you to share photos and videos with us. If you have any questions or concerns, we are always available to assist you.
Do you offer stud services or sell cats for breeding purposes?
No, we do not provide stud services or sell cats for breeding purposes. Our cattery is closed to safeguard the well-being of our kittens.
What medical testing do I need to conduct on my Devon Rex?
Immunizations are essential for your kitten’s health, but it’s crucial to find a veterinarian experienced with the Devon Rex breed, as they may have unique reactions to certain vaccines. We recommend administering four FVRCP and one rabies vaccination during the first year of your kitten’s life, followed by annual FVRCP and rabies vaccinations throughout their life. However, we advise against vaccinating your kitten for FIP, ringworm, or Giardia, and we do not offer any warranty for adverse reactions to these or any other future vaccinations. Additionally, it is required that all current cats in your household undergo combo testing for FIV/Leukemia before introducing your new Devon Rex kitten. An annual echocardiogram is highly recommended to detect HCM in your cat. Although we conduct annual scans on our breeding cats and practice selective breeding, HCM is inherent in the Devon Rex breed.
Do you have an outcrossing program?
Yes, we have a specialized outcrossing program that enhances the diversity of the Devon Rex gene pool. Our program exclusively incorporates approved breeds recognized by TICA.
What should I do if my cat becomes ill?
We provide a 48-hour health guarantee from the time of pick-up and a three-year guarantee for life-threatening congenital defects, including HCM. If your cat falls ill, please contact us immediately. However, after the 48-hour health check, you are responsible for any illnesses your cat may develop. The breeder cannot be held accountable for future diagnoses of FeLV/FIV or any other bacterial, viral, infectious diseases, or parasites that may be contracted outside the cattery.
How can I verify your credibility as a breeder?
It is essential to conduct thorough research and exercise caution when purchasing a kitten to avoid falling victim to scams. We are a registered cattery with TICA, and our website is linked to our TICA registration. We advise against acquiring a kitten from a cattery that lacks TICA registration, does not conduct annual HCM scans on their cats, or refuses to conduct FaceTime calls. Scammers can be quite sophisticated and will go to great lengths to deceive you, so be cautious if the price seems unusually low or if the cattery requests payment via Western Union. Kittens should be bred in their own cattery, undergo genetic testing, HCM scans, HCM gene testing, and possess TICA registration.
