Terms and Conditions
When you bring home a Devon Rex Kitten from our cattery, it is important to inform us of any changes in your contact information within 90 days to ensure accurate records. As part of our health guarantee, we require you to isolate your new kitten from other household pets for the initial 48 hours. During this time, keep your kitten or cat separated until it has been examined by a licensed veterinarian. It is your responsibility to have your kitten or cat checked by a licensed veterinarian within 48 hours of receiving it for the guarantee to remain valid. Failure to do so will nullify the health guarantee. Additionally, we recommend performing a combo test for FIV and Leukemia during this initial examination and keeping the negative results for your records.
We guarantee that all our Devon Rex kittens are free from FIV and Leukemia. However, we cannot be held accountable for any future diagnoses of FeL, FIV, or other bacterial, viral, infectious diseases, or parasites that your kitten may contract after leaving our cattery. These can be acquired anywhere in the environment and are not a result of genetics or breeding. It is your responsibility to protect your kitten or cat from such diseases, illnesses, parasites, and fungi.
To maintain this guarantee, it is crucial to ensure that your kitten or cat does not come into contact with other felines before being checked by a licensed veterinarian and tested accordingly. If your kitten or cat is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness, please notify us immediately by phone, email, and written letter, and consult with your diagnosing veterinarian. In some cases, DNA analysis may be necessary.
As the new owner of a Devon Rex Kitten, you accept the responsibility of caring for your kitten or cat and providing for its welfare. You agree to provide timely veterinary care for any illness or injury your kitten or cat may experience throughout its lifetime. Additionally, you agree to schedule yearly preventative health checkups and examinations to monitor any changes in health. It is important to note that we are not financially responsible for veterinary care throughout the lifetime of your kitten or cat.
Under no circumstances should you euthanize your Devon Rex Kitten or cat without our prior consent. If any serious health problems arise, you must contact us immediately so that we can discuss the appropriate plan of action.
To monitor your cat’s heart health, we request that you provide your Devon Rex Kitten or cat with an annual echocardiogram (ultrasound) of the heart conducted by a Board Certified Cardiologist starting at 2 years of age. This is particularly important because HCM (Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy) is a concern in the Devon Rex breed. Sharing copies of your kitten’s or cat’s annual HCM scans with us will aid in the prevention of life-threatening congenital heart defects in our breeding program. It is essential for you to take a proactive approach to your cat’s future health.
Lastly, we require that you keep your Devon Rex Kitten or cat indoors at all times, providing a clean and pleasant environment. Your kitten or cat should not be confined to a cage, and you must ensure proper nutrition, healthcare (including yearly veterinary examinations and vaccinations), companionship, and sufficient space for exercise. It is vital that your kitten or cat is not allowed to roam outside or come into contact with other cats living outside your indoor household, as this would void our guarantee. Selling, giving away, donating, or transferring your kitten or cat to any other individuals, including pet shops, breeders or catteries, research laboratories, rescue groups, shelters, or similar entities, is strictly prohibited.
In the event that you can no longer keep your Devon Rex Kitten or Cat, regardless of its age, you must immediately notify the Breeder by phone and email. Arrangements will be made for the kitten or cat to be surrendered to the Breeder, unless alternative arrangements have been agreed upon in writing with the notarized consent of the Breeder. If shipping is required to return the kitten or cat to the Breeder, you will be responsible for all associated shipping expenses.
The Purchaser agrees to NEVER administer FIP vaccines to their Devon Rex Kitten. It is crucial to find a veterinarian who is familiar with the Devon Rex breed. Devon Rex kittens and cats have been known to have adverse reactions to vaccinations for FeL/FIV. We recommend administering 4 FVRCP, 2 FeLV, and 1 Rabies vaccine during the first year of life, followed by FVRCP and Rabies vaccines annually for life, excluding FIP. The initial FVRCP vaccine should be given between 6-8 weeks, with subsequent doses administered every 4 weeks until 16 weeks. The Breeder is not responsible for any warranty against adverse reactions to these or any future vaccinations.
The Breeder does not advise vaccinating any of their kittens or cats for FIP, Ringworm, or Giardia. FIP vaccines can be fatal if your cat has previously been exposed to the coronavirus, which is the case for 90% of cats in multiple cat households. Administering the vaccine in such cases may lead to the fatal form of FIP. As there is currently no known treatment for FIP, the condition is ultimately fatal. By administering any of these vaccines at any point in the life of the Devon Rex Kitten or Cat, the Purchaser acknowledges that the health guarantee and contract are void.
The Purchaser understands that it is REQUIRED to have all current cats in their home combo tested for FIV and Leukemia BEFORE introducing their new Devon Rex Kitten. This requirement also applies to any outdoor cats that may come into contact with the Devon Rex in the home. The combo test is a quick blood test that usually costs around $40 and can be completed within 20 minutes at your veterinarian’s office. Failure to follow this requirement puts the Purchaser’s Devon Rex at risk of contracting FIV and/or Leukemia, thereby voiding the health guarantee.
The Purchaser agrees to NEVER DE-CLAW any Devon Rex Kitten or Cat from our cattery. De-clawing cats can have numerous negative effects, and it is recommended to research alternatives such as nail caps or regular nail clipping. Providing cat trees and scratch pads is also beneficial.
The Purchaser understands that the degree of hairlessness in Devon Rex cats varies from cat to cat and that no Devon Rex is completely hairless. It is important to recognize that hormones, climate, and genetics play significant roles in hairlessness. Although a Devon Rex Kitten may be mostly hairless at the time of sale, there is a possibility that the kitten may develop some hair after being neutered or spayed or as it grows older. It is impossible to guarantee that any Devon Rex Kitten or Cat will remain completely hairless throughout its life.
Any violation of the TERMS outlined in this contract will result in voiding the contract and may lead to legal action. If the Purchaser is found to disregard or violate ANY TERMS in the contract, the kitten or cat must be surrendered unconditionally to the Breeder at the Purchaser’s expense. The Breeder will reclaim full physical and legal ownership of the kitten or cat, including TICA and CFA registration with ownership transfer, without exceptions. The contract will be enforced, with or without due process of the law, for any violation of the Terms, without compensation to the Purchaser.
Purchaser and Breeder agree to replace the term “Sphinx Kitten Home” with “Devon Rex Kitten Home” in this contract and all related documents. In the event that the Purchaser can no longer keep their Devon Rex Kitten or Cat, regardless of the age of the kitten or cat, the Breeder must be notified immediately by both phone and email. Arrangements will be made for the kitten or cat to be surrendered to the Breeder unless other arrangements have been agreed upon in writing with the notarized consent of the Breeder. If shipping is required to return the kitten or cat to the Breeder, the Purchaser will be responsible for all associated shipping expenses.

Our kittens are up to date on all appropriate vaccinations for their age, dewormed, freshly groomed, have their claws trimmed, and ears meticulously cleaned. We go the extra mile to ensure that our kittens are in optimal condition when they join their new families. Our knowledgeable breeder is available throughout the lifespan of the kitten or cat to address inquiries, assist with concerns, and offer reliable guidance.
To reserve a kitten or cat from Devon Rex Kitten Haven, a non-refundable deposit must be made to the breeder. The deposit is applied towards the purchase price of the kitten or cat. We guarantee that the kitten or cat will be in excellent health for up to 48 hours starting from the time of purchase or arrival. During this 48-hour health guarantee period, we recommend isolating the kitten or cat from other pets until examined by the purchaser’s licensed veterinarian. Should the consulting veterinarian diagnose the kitten or cat with a life-threatening illness, it is imperative that the breeder be immediately notified by the purchaser through both a written letter sent via email and a phone call to the breeder. DNA analysis may be requested.
At Devon Rex Kitten Haven, we stand by the health of our kittens and cats. In the event that a life-threatening illness is diagnosed, the breeder retains the right to replace the kitten or cat at their discretion. The breeder may take up to 12 months to provide a replacement, depending on their current breeding activities. However, whenever possible, the breeder will endeavor to offer a replacement from the subsequent litter. No monetary refunds will be issued under any circumstances. Trust us to deliver healthy and contented kittens.
At Devon Rex Kitten Home, we are committed to the well-being of our kittens and cats. We guarantee that your new kitten or cat will be free from life-threatening congenital defects, such as HCM, until they reach 2 years of age. In the unlikely event that your kitten or cat passes away within the guaranteed period due to a life-threatening congenital defect, we will replace your kitten or cat if an appropriate postmortem examination is conducted, alongside relevant DNA analysis.
To qualify for a replacement, you must provide a written certificate from your veterinarian, along with an explanation that the death resulted from a congenital defect. We may also request a photograph of the deceased kitten or cat, as well as copies of veterinary records.
At the discretion of the breeder, a replacement kitten or cat of comparable quality and value will be provided within 12 months, assuming the breeder is actively engaged in breeding. We will always make every effort to offer a replacement from the next available litter. Monetary refunds are not available under any circumstances.
Please be aware that the purchaser must refrain from modifying the kitten or cat in any way, including tattoos, piercings, and so forth. We are dedicated to safeguarding the health and well-being of our kittens and cats, and we appreciate your cooperation in preserving their natural state.
